Are You at Risk For Osteoporosis?

 Take this quiz to see if you are in a high risk category:

Part One

Do you smoke?
Is your body weight less than 127 Ibs? (or BMI less than 21)
Do you drink more than 2 alcoholic beverages daily?
Do you get little or no exercise?
Do you take medications known to result in bone loss?
Do you have a chronic disease?
Do you lack good nutrition?
Do you have any nutrient deficiencies?

 

Part Two

Are you white or hispanic?
Are you over the age of 50?
Are you female?
Are you post-menopausal, including surgically?
Do you have a personal history of fracture as an adult?
Do you have a family history of fracture or osteoporosis? (first-degree relative)
Do you have any genetic disorders?
Do you have low bone mineral density (osteopenia)?

 

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, you have one of the risk factors for osteoporosis. If you answered "yes" to any of the questions in part one, there are modifiable factors. If you answered "yes" to any of the questions in part two, these are non-modifiable factors.
